Things to do in Cornwall: Blue Reef Aquarium Newquay

Explore over 40 naturaually themed habitats and discover aquatic life from both local waters and further a field. Located in the hear of the aquarium is the incredible coral reef; submerged in 250,000 litres of ocean water, this intreging habitate is home to a large variety species from a loggerhead turtle to reef sharks.

By Foot:
Look out for the blue signage posts across the town, and follow the pedestrian signs directing you to Towan Beach via Beach Road.

By Car:
If you’re planning on driving to us, please be aware that the aquarium does not offer parking. The closest car parks are St Georges Road Car Park (TR7 1JS) and Manor Road Car Park (TR7 1RA).

In peak season a park & ride facility is provided on the A392 approach road into Newquay opposite Hendra Holiday Park. (TR8 4NY)

From the north: Follow the A3058 and head west on Henver Road/A3058. At the roundabout, take the second exit and stay on Henver Road/A3058. Continue straight ahead to Narrowcliff at the second roundabout, heading onto Cliff Road and Berry Road. Turn right onto Mount Wise, followed by a right onto St Georges Road (for the car park) or a second right onto Manor Road (for the alternative car park).

From the south: Follow the A3075. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Trevemper Road/A392. At the the next roundabout, take the first exit onto Gannel Road/A392, and continue onto Higher Tower Road. Continue straight onto Higher Tower Road at the third roundabout, then turn right onto Crantock Street, and right onto St George’s Road (for the first car park) or left onto Manor Road (for the alternative car park).

By Bus:
Depending on your arrival direction, from the surrounding areas there are regular bus services. Look out for the 21, 25A, 85 and 87 services, stopping at Newquay Bus Station.

From Newquay Bus Station, the aquarium is just a 5-minute walk. Head east onto Manor Road, then turn left down the alleyway towards Bank Street. Turn left onto Bank Street and follow the road towards The Central. Turn right onto Gover Lane and follow the path to Towan Beach.

By Train:
Trains to Newquay run every two hours via Par Station.

The nearest train station to us is Newquay Train station, approximately a 10-minute walk from the aquarium. Turn left out of the station, cross the road and turn right, heading along the pedestrian and tram-line walkway. At the end of the road, cross over and walk down the hill, across a grassed area just outside the aquarium.

Food and Drink:
Sit back and relax from all the splashingly-good fun; unwind in the Blue Reef Cafe, while enjoying hot or cold food and drinks. If you have the little ones with you, high chairs and a microwave are available for parental use. The Blue Reef Cafe is the perfect pit stop on your journey through the waves, or if you’re just passing by the cafe is open to non-aquarium visitors too.

Gift Shop:
Swim on over to the Blue Reef gift shop and feast your eyes on a wide range of marine-themed gifts, souvenirs, toys, and cards. You won’t be able to resist the temptation of adopting a cute and cuddly soft-toy creature!

Accessibility:
If you require disabled access, please check with the aquarium reception prior to your journey. As we are located right on the beach, there is limited parking available for disabled badge holders, so all spaces are on a first come, first served basis.

Passengers can be dropped off by the aquarium on Beach Road where necessary*, otherwise the closest parking is located on St Georges Road Car Park (TR7 1JS), which requires a 5-minute walk down the hill to the aquarium.
