Visit Lizard Point
Lizard Point is a National Trust site, known for its turquoise seas, dramatic cliffs and picturesque beaches. The Point is the most southerly part of the British mainland, and overlooks one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world – it has also been the site of numerous shipwrecks over the centuries. The combination of mild weather and unique geology means the area has an unusual collection of fauna and wildlife, such as adders and pink sea thrift.
Take the Lizard Coastal Walk
To really appreciate this beautiful scenery, why not take on the Lizard coastal walk? This 7-mile route is quite challenging at times, but provides unmatched views of the dramatic cliffs, unspoilt coastline, open countryside and beautiful beaches. The walk should take around 3 hours, and visitors can take advantage of the National Trust café and toilets at Kynance Cove. Keep your eyes open for basking sharks, seals and much more during your walk… you can find full details of the route here.
Go Coasteering around the Lizard Coast
If you’re looking for a more active way to enjoy this spectacular part of Cornwall, why not try coasteering? This popular activity involves using Cornwall’s rocky coastline as your very own climbing frame or adventure playground… scramble over rocks, wade through rock pools, explore caves and even jump off cliffs! It provides explorers with a completely different way to experience the coastline. Lizard Adventure are experts in coasteering and have several sites around the Lizard, allowing them to find something which suits all kinds of groups.
